Work experience
Regional Manager

​Present

I am operating and managing a new regional office of historic preservation experts delivering high quality materials and workmanship for historic property preservation.

Project Consultant

​2016

I assessed property management programs for historic housing under eleven public-private ventures and governing Programmatic Agreements executed under the National Historic Preservation Act. Deliverables include annual reports of activities and scopes for maintenance and preservation plans.

​2008 - 2016

I directed programs planning infrastructure upgrades, redevelopment, and investment in the buildings and grounds of a National Historic Landmark district. The district is a former Army installation closed by federal action. Major projects included a governance and management assessment and legislative restructuring; infrastructure condition assessments, managment transition, and capital improvements planning; negotiating a Public-Private agreement under state law; developing a Geographic Information System (GIS); building condition assessments and feasability studies; a specialized historic structures report (HSR); architectural projects large and small; local zoning; and governing documents and design standards for buildings and sites. Work involved several federal, state, and local authorities. 

Senior Planner

​2007 - 2008

I facilitated community planning and development services for a city of 50,000. Major code revisions during my tenure included zoning and signage. Responsibilities included public boards and commissions, and administrative actions for land divisions and site plan review. Special projects included negotiating development agreements, working on annexations, large master planned and small neotraditional infill development plans.

Director of Preservation Services

​2006 - 2007

I ​led internal and external facing technical and advocacy services for historic resources in the capital of Virginia. Projects: database of the organization's 300+ property interests, sale of the largest real estate asset for $6 million and plans for adaptive use, advocacy to preserve the view that gave the city its name, and preservation and upkeep of organization's properties including a 1740s house, an 1814 memorial church, and an1840s house turned office and apartments.

​2005 - 2006

I established and led a new department for a rapidly growing community foundation. Responsible for guiding real estate investment, planning property preservation projects, community education and advocacy, and creating an online work order system for the organization's properties including a 1720s house, two 1820s mansions and grounds, an 1850s cottage, an 1870s house owned by Woodrow Wilson's family, and an 1920s synagogue turned nightclub programmed for special events.
